“We set the bar high and our supporters knew that,'' NCCF Executive Director Ann P. Rogers said. "We are deeply grateful to each and every one of them for their support in transforming lives … one Norwalk Community College student at a time.”

There were many facets of the successful fundraising campaign. The Foundation’s Board of Directors hosted a series of events in throughout Fairfield County to raise awareness of the outstanding services and programs the College offers. Potential donors and volunteers were invited to the campus to meet students, faculty and staff. During the past year, the Foundation succeeded in recruiting more than 100 volunteers to mentor students, critique student resumes, perform mock interviews, provide career advice and help stock the NCC Food Pantry.

The Foundation also conducted a free Lecture Series and a special musical event in partnership with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra as part of the campaign year. To conclude the fundraising campaign, the Foundation hosted a celebration after the annual meeting in November for Board Directors, donors, faculty, staff and elected officials.

The work of the Foundation and continued support from its donors are critical given impending reductions in state funding. The Foundation awarded nearly $1 million in annual scholarships to 493 students last year. The Foundation also offers a free four-week Summer Bridge Math Intensive program for incoming freshmen, presents transfer scholarships to high-achieving graduates, and engages in an entrepreneurship program including a Summer Institute.

The mission of the Norwalk Community College Foundation is to raise funds for Norwalk Community College programs and scholarships, invest, administer and distribute funds so that students of all ages continue to benefit from challenging opportunities for self-improvement and intellectual growth; and inspire and engage the community to share talents and resources.
