NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk's Center for Youth Leadership is taking the initiative and inviting the public to take a new look at its New Year's resolutions.

Center for Youth Leadership members stood on Washington Street on New Year's Eve to urge people passing by to not look at personal issues but instead to "look at community issues that influence thel ives of a lot of families," a press release said. Members said resolutions could address community issues such as sexual harassment, dating violence, bullying, immigrant rights, mental health, child abuse and human trafficking.

Many people stopped to talk about issues or shouted words of encouragement while they drove by, the press release said.

“Their reactions made this worthwhile,” said Mirella Fernandez, a CYL member. “Knowing that we reach one person with an activity makes us happy; reaching a lot of people makes it that much more fun and rewarding.”
