NORWALK, Conn. – Starting this month, the Norwalk Board of Education will split its twice-monthly meetings into two separate formats, with the first designated as a workshop meeting and the second as a business meeting.

The first workshop meeting is set for Oct. 13.

Workshop meetings are designed for administrators to explain proposals or certain topics to the public before they get voted on at business meetings.

“The workshop format is well suited for addressing major policy topics,” said Board of Education Chairman Mike Lyons in a statement. “Designating one meeting a month for an in-depth focus will allow the Board time to analyze and consider major issues and plans, and will also make monthly business meetings more efficient.”

“This type of meeting schedule is in use in many school districts in Connecticut, and has proven to be a productive approach to board work,” said Steven Adamowski, superintendent of Norwalk Public Schools.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place in Room A300 of Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Ave., and starts at 7:30 p.m.
