NORWALK, Conn. Ron Secchi got spoofed Thursday and that was fine. Wearing baseball hats and glasses provided a little fun for members of the Brien McMahon High School band as they practiced their new show in the school parking lot during annual band camp.
Secchi, the band's director, said imitating him was "all harmless."
More than 100 students are finishing the first week of camp, working toward a dress rehearsal in front of family and friends on Friday, Aug. 26. The following day they will be at Kennedy Stadium in Bridgeport, one of three high school bands invited to a drum corps show. Also participating are Norwalk High School and Trumbull High School.
This year's show is called "Barn Dance," and Secchi took songs from "American Barn Dance" and added songs to make it a full production. Tunes include "Hoe Down," "Turkey in the Straw" and "other country-style dances," he said.
Jessie Clemens, a junior, sported a Secchi outfit Thursday, with a wild t-shirt, glasses and accentuated eyebrows. Another student wore an upside-down crown. "That's a whole other story," Secchi said.
