To support the administration and faculty of the school, a group of parents, alumni and friends recently launched the Senators’ Success Fund to advance the educational, athletic and cultural opportunities for students.

In a short amount of time, the SSF raised money to upgrade sound systems in the Forcellina Auditorium – home to music department performances – and at the Cassagrande Field – home to the Senators athletic teams.

Now the group has turned its energies to establishing a College Resource Center to provide assistance for students and parents in the college application process.

Realizing the potential impact of this initiative on the lives of students and families at BMHS, Norwalk resident and local business owner Neal Konstantin of PDC International, stepped up to the challenge with a matching grant of $5,000 to help kick off the campaign.

“The Norwalk Public Schools have served our children well,” said Konstantin, himself a graduate of the public schools. “This initiative will bring additional resources to support McMahon counselors in the college application process, including for students who might be the first in their families to continue beyond high school. PDC International is delighted to support this vital community effort and is pleased to know that we’ve been able to kick start the fundraising goals,” said Konstantin.

Working with the BMHS guidance department and administration, the SSF recently launched a campaign to raise $75,000 to finance the resource center.

Funds raised will help underwrite college tours for students, support the direct costs of college applications, send members of the school’s guidance department to conferences and networking events with college admissions officers and offer additional resources for students and parents researching college choices and financial aid.
