NORWALK, Conn. -- Members of the Class of 2015 looked back on their time together and celebrated the next steps in their lives as Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk held its graduation ceremony Wednesday.

The community gathered on the football field at the high school to watch the approximately 430 students receive their diplomas. After musical performances by the Brien McMahon Orchestra and the Senior Chamber Choir, the students were congratulated with remarks from Senior Class Housemaster Scott Hurwitz, Mayor Harry Rilling, Board of Education member Artie Kassimis, Interim Superintendent James Connelly and Class Adviser Kelsey Murphy.

"There's no doubt that for those who take advantage of it, the academic education at Brien McMahon is unrivaled. But it's the social education that makes this place really special," said Hurwitz. "Over the past four years, you have taught each other about understanding, empathy, communication, and the many truths of human experience. While not quantifiable with a grade, this aspect of your education at Brien McMahon High School is perhaps more valuable."

Class President and Co-Valedictorian Edwin Owolo looked back on the students' time together and their experiences in high school. This was followed by remarks by Co-Valedictorian Tom Skipper and Salutatorian Elizabeth Buellesbach.

Before diplomas were handed out, students received final words of wisdom from Principal Suzanne Brown Koroshetz, who hugged each student after they received their diploma.
