Janet Rosier will lead the presentation, which answers the question “What are colleges looking for?” The interactive talk will be held from 1-2:30 p.m.at the Westport-Weston YMCA , 14 Allen Raymond Lane.

The GPA Game walks participants through various high school experiences and choices – such as taking a rigorous academic program or not writing the optional application essay —and demonstrates the impact these will have on a college application.

“In particular, the game is meant to show students what they can and should do to have a meaningful, positive impact on their college application and what might have surprisingly negative impact,” says Rosier. “They’ll come away with not only a more realistic understanding of their strengths as applicants, but some ideas for how to reduce or avoid weak spots in their applications.”

Rosier owns a boutique college admissions consulting firm and has been providing personal admissions consulting to area families since 2003. She works with students across the academic spectrum and has toured more than 270 colleges throughout the country as part of her efforts to help clients find schools that are a good fit academically, socially and emotionally.

The seminar is free, but space is limited so that everyone’s questions may be addressed. Contact Rosier at janet@janetrosier.com if you plan to attend.
