Line Of Severe Thunderstorms Sweeping Through Region: Here's Latest

A line of severe thunderstorms is sweeping through the region from the west to the east.

The storms are accompanied by heavy downpours, rumbles of thunder, and lightning strikes.

Storm activity began at around midday on Monday, June 26. (See radar image above.) Scattered storms are expected to continue at times through the afternoon and into the evening.

"The main threats are damaging wind gusts and hail to around 1 inch in diameter," the National Weather Service said in a Hazard Weather Outlook statement issued Monday morning. "Localized flash flooding is also possible."

Maximum wind gusts of around 60 miles per hour have been reported.

Isolated tornadoes are also possible.

Around an inch of rainfall is possible on Monday with locally higher amounts.

Tuesday, June 27 will see more showers with a new line of thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening with a high temperature in the mid-70s. About a half-inch of rainfall is possible.
