Eddie Gonzalez, address unknown, was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 17, by the Norwalk Special Victim’s Unit detectives for an incident that began in October 2018, said Norwalk Police Lt. Terrence Blake.

According to Blake, police began an investigation into Gonzalez after the Patrol Division received a complaint that a juvenile had been sexually assaulted.

Detective Kristina LaPak, who was the lead investigator, quickly determined that Gonzalez was the suspect and was able to track him to Southern Florida, where he was being in jail held on another case.

At the time Gonzalez had an active arrest warrant for violation of probation in Connecticut. On Nov. 14, detectives traveled to Florida and extradited Gonzalez back to Connecticut.

He was charged with violation of probation and held on bond.

LaPak then executed a search warrant for Gonzalez’s DNA, which was later found to be a statistical match to evidence that had been recovered during the investigation, Blake said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Gonzalez, charging him with two counts of sexual assault and risk of injury to a child, Blake added.

He is being held on a $300,000 bond.
