Felon found with loaded arsenal of assault weapons had ‘potential for another Colombine’

ONLY ON CLIFFVIEW PILOT: A career criminal arrested with an arsenal of fully-loaded assault weapons and a “frij full of ammo” had threatened to kill his sister and her family after being bailed out of jail on a gun charge, a Washington Township source told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“I don’t know what his intention was,” the source told CLIFFVIEWPILOT.COM. “But this could have had the potential for another Colombine, given his history.”

Daniel Furesz, 60, had been imprisoned several times on lewdness convictions, according to the New Jersey Department of Corrections, which has removed his mug shot from its online site.

Furesz amassed an arsenal of more than 40 fully-loaded assault riles at gun shows in Virginia, a source close to the investigation told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. He stockpiled those, along with armor-piercing bullets and a bulletproof at a home willed to his sister by their mother, the source said.

Records show Furesz bailed himself out of the Bergen County Jail on Nov. 20 after being arrested in Rochelle Park on Sept. 11 on a gun possession charge. He also has been charged locally with making terrorists threats against his sister and her family.

The sister “was removing some unregistered vehicles on the property and she was afraid he would do something to her,” the source told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. So she summoned police, who found the weapons cache.

Authorities pulled out more than 40 guns — including assault rifles — and a refrigerator full of ammunition last night from the home, along with the flak jacket, which a police lieutenant said was “better quality that we have at the police department.”

The assault weapons were fully loaded and ready to fire, another source told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“It was a scary situation,” the source told CLIFFVIEWPILOT.COM.
