Juan Zelaya-Rodriguez, 49, of Paterson, was working part-time for First Student, Inc. bus company out of Maywood when the incident occurred on a school bus Thursday, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.
He was arrested and charged on Monday with sexual assault and child endangerment following an investigation by Little Ferry police and Molinelli‘s Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit, the prosecutor said.
Zelaya-Rodriguez, who is married, is being held on $75,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail. He’s due for a first appearance in Little Ferry Municipal Court on Thursday.
“There is only one reported incident and at this time there are no other allegations that [he] inappropriately touched other students,” Molinelli said.
However, he emphasized: “This investigation is ongoing.”
