Louis P. Iessi, 93, Of West Nyack

WEST NYACK, N.Y. -- Louis P. Iessi, a resident of West Nyack, died Sunday, Jan.. 31. He was 93.

Iessi was a fixture in Rockland County as a small-business owner for many years. He owned Ben Franklin's in New City and was past president of the Clarkstown Plaza Merchants Association and helped found the New City Chamber of Commerce. He also owned Austin's Comic & Card Corner in Pomona and was a member of the American Legion Post 1600. 

He is survived by his children, Louis, Rosemarie and Frank Iessi, Joan Wilson, Christine Morelli, and son-in-law Michael Thelan. He has 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rita, and daughter Frances Thelen, along with his siblings, Frank Iessi, Anthony, Joseph, John, Vito, and Nancy Penna.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet. 

Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Haverstraw.
