It was in the late afternoon when the couple entered the store, which is located on Level 3 of the Stamford Town Center.

Police Capt. Richard Conklin said the couple milled around while the clerk was busy with other customers. At one point, the male suspect, who was wearing a New York Giants baseball hat, took a quick peek at the surveillance camera and then pulled his hat down over his face, Conklin said.

The suspect then went to a locked display case and turned his back to the clerk to prevent the clerk from seeing what he was doing, police said.

"The male fiddles with a glass display case that is locked and, somehow, he is able to defeat the lock," Conklin said. The watch taken was a custom Casio G-Shock watch worth $2,250.

It wasn't until a couple of days later that the theft was noticed -- after the owner returned and did an inventory, Conklin said. The owner then poured over surveillance video to find the suspects, he said.

The first suspect is a black man wearing the Giants baseball cap, a blue coat with Adidas logo on the back, a white shirt and black pants. His accomplice was a black woman wearing a black shirt with an "Air Jordan" logo and black pants.

The video can be seen here.
