Tarrytown Democrats Endorse Incumbent Trustees

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – The Tarrytown Democratic Party has endorsed three incumbents for the upcoming March elections for the Board of Trustees. Deputy Mayor Thomas Basher, Trustee Robert Hoyt and Trustee Mary McGee will be seeking re-election on March 20.

Tarrytown Democratic Party Chair Linda Viertel said the trio was “enthusiastically endorsed” by the party during its nominating caucus. She said the candidates would be working to gather signatures for an independent run under the Tarrytown United Party.

“I'm looking forward to working with them for the next few years,” she said.

The Tarrytown Republican Party will hold its nominating caucus Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall.

Basher has been a member of the Board of Trustees for 20 years. A registered Democrat, Basher has also been involved with a number of organizations, including the Tarrytown Fire Department, the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

“I'm very happy they had the faith” in me, Basher said, adding that he enjoys working with the current board.

McGee is a registered Democrat who has been on the Board of Trustees for six years. She has also served on the Board of Education for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns and was a member of the Parent-Teachers Association and the Westchester Women's School Board Members Association.
