Kids Decorate Faces, Cards for Dads in Wilton

WILTON, Conn -- Three-year-old Olivia Bisson of Wilton had already worked hard to make a colorful Father's Day card to give to her dad Sunday morning. Now, it was time for even more fun–getting some tattoos. Or at least some fake ones.

"I want the same ones you have," Olivia told art teacher Katja Evans Saturday morning at Wilton's Bright Horizons preschool and afterschool center, located at 7 Godfrey Place.

"I like the bat and spiders," she said, pointing to the teacher's left arm, which was covered with painted Batman and Superman "tattoos," as well as ducks, stars, spiders, lady-bugs and flowers.

Olivia, who was among dozens of young children at the center Saturday with their families to celebrate its sparkling new art studio, proudly showed off her painted face and arms to parents Dina and Serge Bisson.

"We love it here, and what they've done to create this art studio is make an already wonderful center even better," Dina Bisson said. "Every day, she [Olivia] can't wait to come."

Alison Zareski, also of Wilton, brought daughter Katherine, 3, and son Andrew, 2, to the Saturday celebration. Katherine, covered with face paint and wearing a hat, happily displayed a Father's Day drawing she made for her dad.

"Katherine was really looking forward to coming today, and she wasn't disappointed," Alison Zareski said.

Three-year-olds Jake Mercer of Stamford and his buddy Ryland Herzog of Norwalk played together in the art room, showing off their face-paint and taking turns ringing a bell.

"He goes to the Stamford [Bright Horizons], which is great, but after today we are considering moving him to this one," said Jake's mom, Tiffany Mercer. "The art studio is so creative."

Center director Kelly Esposito said about 75 parents and their children attended "Celebrate the Arts" on Saturday, to officially kick of the art studio's opening.

"We saw today how excited the kids are about the new art studio," said Esposito.
