Explore Westport's Summer Camps

WESTPORT, Conn. – The last day of school in Westport is only three days away: Are you and your kids prepared for summer vacation? If not, don't sweat it—there are a lot of summer camp opportunities your kids can enjoy.

Earthplace (10 Woodside Lane): From June 27 through Aug. 12, campers will participate in a variety of nature-related activities, such as pond exploration, canoeing, hiking and an Earthplace sleepover. Campers will also take weekly field trips, including visits to the Maritime Aquarium, USS Nautilus Submarine Force Museum, The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, Silver Sands State Park in Milford, the Saugatuck River, the Sleeping Giant State Park, the Bronx Zoo and Kent Falls State Park. Campers in grades 5 through 9 can also choose to spend a week camping at Raquette Lake in the Adirondacks, where they will explore Owl Head Mountain, take a scenic boat cruise and cook over a campfire for the week.

Westport Weston Family Y's Camp Mahackeno (14 Sunny Lane): Camp Mahackeno, a day camp, offers eight one-week sessions for kids entering grades 1-10. Segments run from June 27 through Aug. 19. There are also two "Special Event" weeks for children entering grades 1-6. These are held June 20-24, and Aug. 22-26.

? Westport Parks and Recreation: The town runs three different day camps. Tot 'n Play, for children ages 3 to 5, offers seven one-week sessions, June 13 to July 29. Five-year-olds can register only for Week 1 (June 13-17) or Week 2 (June 20-24). Camp Compo offers seven one-week sessions for children entering grades K-4. Sessions run June 27 through Aug. 12. RECing Crew offers seven one-week sessions for children entering grades 5-8. Sessions run June 27 through Aug. 12.

Berlitz Kids Summer Camp (Westport Language Center, 275 Post Road E.): Your child can learn a new language this summer. For children ages 4-11, this program offers two 3-week sessions. The first runs July 11-28, the second Aug. 1-18.

Westport Historical Society: The Historical Society is offering three one-week sessions from Aug. 8-26. Each is based on a different theme. Special guests will work with the children throughout the programs, sharing their passion and expertise in diverse subjects. Local field trips, all snacks and supplies, a pizza lunch and ice cream specials are included. Sessions are open to children ages 5-10 and 7-12.
