Somers Starts Bulk Refuse Drop Off

SOMERS, N.Y. -- The Town of Somers will hold its bulk refuse drop off at the sanitation transfer station from Saturday through Saturday, Nov. 16. 

Somers will begin its refuse drop off for residents that have items that can't be thrown in the regular garbage on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Somers residents are invited to drop off household items such as mattresses, furniture, carpeting, wood, bicycles and non-commercial construction materials. Propane tanks under 20 pounds are accepted for a $10 fee. Refrigerators and air conditioners with freon are $35. Non freon appliances are $10, but must have the sticker. 

Flat rate prices are: $15 per car; $20 per SUV, mini-van or station wagon; $35 per pickup truck or small van (under 3 cubic yards) and $76 per ton for anything larger. 

Hours for the refuse drop off are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 pm. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

The Somers sanitation transfer station is located at 241 Route 100.
