Westport has two new principals--one's an insider and the other will be one soon. The Board of Education voted unanimously for the appointment of Janna Bell as principal of Coleytown Elementary and Dr. Susie DaSilva as principal of Kings Highway Elementary. They both start their new positions on July 1.
Bell has been the assistant principal of Coleytown Elementary school since 2008. Before that she was the elementary math supervisor for the Westport schools. Bell started her career as an elementary school teacher at Long Lots. Janna has spent her entire career in Westport, said Superintendent Elliott Landon. Weve watched her grow. Coleytown is extremely fortunate.
Susie DaSilva who was hired as principal at Kings Highway has been an elementary principal in Waterbury. In addition, DaSilva has experience as a literacy expert and was a bilingual instructor in Bridgeport. She started her career in Fairfield as a world language teacher. Currently, DaSilva is also an adjunct professor at the University of Bridgeport. She is a leader in the state, said Landon.
