Denver Rallies to Nip Fairfield

The University of Denver rallied to defeat Fairfield, 9-8, Saturday in the ESPNU Warrior Classic at Rentschler Field. The Stags, ranked 17th in the country, fell to 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the ECAC. Denver, ranked 20th, is 10-4 overall and 5-0 in the ECAC.

Norwalk grad Brent Adams had two goals for the Stags. Sam Snow scored three goals and had an assist for Fairfield. Norwalk's John Snellman also added a goal. Fairfield took a 3-0 lead and still led 8-7 late in the fourth quarter, but Denver's Mark Matthews scored twice in 37 seconds, the last coming with 3:58 left, to lift Denver. Fairfield has two regular season games remaining, road contests at Maryland (May 1) and Quinnipiac (May 8).
