The community would be for young adults with developmental disabilities. Green Hills Farms would create a safe and nurturing environment where young adults with developmental disabilities can live, work and develop lasting friendships.

Many of the residents that would qualify for this community are already on the waiting list for Group Homes with the state Department of Social Services.

In addition, 75 percent are unemployed but are able to work. The program proposed would rectify both of these issues by providing potential residents to work and live in a community setting with a strong support system and highly capable staff.

The bill went before the Public Health Committee. You can track the action on this bill by visiting www.cga.ct.gov and typing in H.B. 6681.
