Turnout Light For Norwalk Special Voter Registration

NORWALK, Conn. — Only a couple of new voters registered in Norwalk during Saturday's state-mandated special registration session, which took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Hall.

Voters can continue to register in person at City Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Oct. 30, Registrar of Voters Karen Doyle Lyons said.

She said 1,049 new voters have registered in Norwalk since Oct. 1, a high number that is attributable to the upcoming presidential election. She also said many voters have switched party affiliation, although the department doesn’t keep track of the number.

Norwalk has 43,278 registered voters. There are 15,252 registered Democrats, 8,847 Republicans, 816 Independents and 18,285 unaffiliated. There are 23,886 registered female voters and 19,369 male.
