NORWALK, Conn. -- The Connecticut chapter of the American Federation of Teachers endorsed Keith Rodgerson for state representative in the upcoming General Assembly election.
The AFT endorsement follows the release of Rodgerson's education platform that included supporting increases to public school Educational Cost Sharing (ECS) funding, universal Pre-K, and the expansion of the University of Connecticut system.
"I am humbled by their (the AFT's) trust in me. These are challenging times in education," Rodgerson, a Democrat, said in a statement. "Once I get to Hartford, I will work very hard in making sure that our educational priorities continue to move forward."
He is running for the seat in the 143rd State House District, challenging incumbent Gail Lavielle, a Republican. The district includes parts of Norwalk, Westport and Wilton.
