NORWALK, Conn. - Norwalk mayoral candidate Harry Rilling received the endorsement of Council 4 AFSCME, which represents the city’s Department of Public Works employees Local 2405, its custodians and maintenance employees Local 1042, and its cafeteria workers Local 1748.
Standing with Norwalk police and Norwalk firefighters, Department of Public Workers Local 2405 President Milton Giddiens endorsed Rilling by saying: “I’m proud to stand with my brothers in blue, my brothers in red, and my brothers in green. Harry is a fighter for the working class and Norwalk needs a mayor that understands our mission.”
Council 4 AFSCME represents 32,000 people in Connecticut.
Director of Policy and Planning at Council 4 AFSCME, Peter Thor, explained why Rilling was receiving a statewide endorsement. “Harry represents the values of the working people,” he said. “Harry understands getting work done for the people of Norwalk.”
“I am humbled, honored, and proud to have your endorsement,” Rilling said. “You are the salt of the earth and the backbone of Norwalk’s working force.”
