NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Professional Fire Fighters Association has officially endorsed Democratic mayoral candidate Harry Rilling in his bid to unseat Republican incumbent Richard Moccia.
"Harry understands that firefighters are professionals and as mayor he will treat firefighters with respect," Norwalk Fire Fighters Association Union President Elefterios Petrides said in a statement. "He will be an open and hands on mayor that will always ensure that firefighters have a seat at the table and are able to give input into how Norwalk’s public safety is run.”
Rilling said his past as a union leader make this endorsement a special one for him.
“As a former union member, union president, and department leader of Norwalk, I am proud and humbled to have the endorsement of our hard working fire fighters,” Rilling said in a statement. “These are our everyday heroes that put their lives on the line to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Norwalk.”
