FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - No longer will Fairfield County residents be in the dark on how long it will take to take care of business at the Department of Motor Vehicles. A new online program launched by the state offers real-time waits at each DMV location.
"We see this as a tremendous customer service improvement. Until now, the wait time was always a mystery and gamble when you went to a DMV," Motor Vehicles Commissioner Melody A. Currey said in a release. "Now people have a guide to help them plan their day."
DMV customers can now check online via a computer, smartphone or tablet for wait times before heading to any of its major service offices around the state.
The new wait-time link can be found at the main DMV website . It shows times for various services each office may offer, such as registering a vehicle, obtaining a license, ID card or handicap parking permit, getting copies of records, requesting a duplicate title and making registration and license name changes.
The wait times listed are within 10 minutes of the actual times, the DMV said.
The DMV offices in Fairfield County are at 2 Lee Mac Ave. in Danbury, 540 Main Ave. in Norwalk and 95 Sylvan Ave. in Bridgeport.
