The Republican’s margin of victory came from Bruce Kimmel, a Democrat who has caucused with the Republicans since January. Kimmel finished fourth in the Common Council’s at-large voting, giving the GOP four at-large seats and an 8-7 majority.
Republicans Doug Hempstead, Richard Bonenfant and Glenn Iannaccone also won at-large seats on the council. Sharon Stewart will be the only Democratic councilman at-large with a fifth-place finish.
Democrats swept in Districts A and B, with Eloisa Melendez, David Watts, Travis Simms and Phaedrel Bowman winning seats. The Republicans swept District D with wins from Shannon O'Toole Giandurco and Jerry E. Petrini.
In District C, Democrat John Kydes and Republican Michelle Maggio took first and second place, respectively. District E was also split, with Republican Dave McCarthy and Democrat John Igneri taking the top two positions.
Democrats took three of the four open seats on the Board of Education Tuesday. Democrats Heidi Keyes and Shirley Mosby finished first and second, followed by Republican Artie Kassimis. Democrat Shirelle Harris finished in fourth to take the final spot. Tuesday’s results give the Democrats a 6-3 majority on the Board of Education.
Third-party candidates Steven Collarossi and Andres Roman finished ninth and tenth, respectively, for the upstart Norwalk Community Values Party.

- Town Clerk: Rick McQuaid (Republican, unopposed)
- Taxing District Commissioners: Robert Corbo (Democrat, First); Martha Wooten-Dumas (Democrat, Second); Debora Goldstein (Democrat, Third); Tamsen Langalis (Republican, Sixth)
- Taxing District Treasurers: Marija Vaivads Bryant (Democrat, First); Sonya Merrill (Democrat, Second); Michael F. Intrieri (Republican, Third); John Verel (Endorsed by both parties, Sixth)
