Maggio and Mann are both in their first terms on the Common Council. Maggio was elected to the post in 2011, and Mann took over her seat after the resignation of Joanne Romano. The pair’s campaign slogan is “Responsible Leadership.”
“Sarah and I are focused on making our city a little bit better than we found it, leading the way towards making improvements for all Norwalkers, responsibly,” Maggio said in a news release.
A Norwalk native, Maggio owns Mike’s Deli in East Norwalk. In her campaign announcement she highlighted her advocacy for safer pedestrian crossing and access on Norwalk roads, her campaign against the restructuring of the Regional Planning Agency and her service on the Connecticut Early Childhood Education Cabinet.
Mann has lived in East Norwalk for 27 years. Before joining the Common Council she was a member of the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk, the board of directors for the United Way, and the Norwalk Mentor Program. She also served on the Norwalk Parking Authority and the East Norwalk Improvement Association.
“Doing the right thing for the city and its citizens is my goal,” Mann said in a news release. “Though this can be obscured by the politics and special interests, we need to commit to working with all our colleagues to ensure that Norwalk continues to remain on the right path.”
The two hope to retain their seats representing District C, which covers East Norwalk. Both received the Norwalk Republican Town Committee’s endorsement to represent the party in the general election on Nov. 5.
