Brown Stepping Up To Lead Norwalk Democrats

NORWALK, Conn. – A former Common Councilwoman appears likely to be the next chairman of the Norwalk Democratic Town Committee.

Amanda Brown, an East Norwalk resident, announced her intention to be Marc Bradley's successor at a Wednesday night meeting of the DTC executive committee.

Bradley was re-elected to the post in March but recently resigned after moving to London. "Currently, I am the only one that has stepped up to fill the vacancy," Brown said in an e-mail. "If I'm fortunate enough to be elected by my DTC colleagues next week, I look forward to leading the charge on behalf of the Democrats to support values we hold dear, such as educational excellence, preservation of the middle class and reasonable measures that address public safety and crime."

The DTC will meet Thursday to elect a new chair, Brown said.

When running for the Common Council last fall, Brown released a statement announcing her qualifications . "I am a compassionate civil servant who knows that in order to make a positive difference in the community you need hard work and good management skills," she said. "As a former Common Councilwoman, I know how the city's political environment operates and will use this knowledge to solve problems and make the necessary adjustments required to keep improving our city."
