FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – When U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) return to Washington in January, both will face a loss in power, reports ctpost.com.

After the loss of Democratic control in the Nov. 4 mid-term elections, both senators now face different legislative priorities.

Blumenthal will lose a key Senate subcommittee chairmanship that has provided him a platform for promoting safety and performance standards over Metro-North Railroad and Amtrak.

Murphy is the outgoing chairman of a Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs, according to the report.
