The woman was walking in the lot at Town Fair Tire at about 2:10 p.m. Tuesday when she was struck by her own SUV, which was in reverse at the time of the crash, according to a preliminary investigation. The impact then pushed the woman into another vehicle, pinning her between the two cars, police said.

Norwalk Fire and Police crews worked to pull the woman from between the cars and took her to Norwalk Hospital for treatment, officials said. She was pronounced dead from her injuries about 40 minutes after the accident, according to police reports.

The woman’s name was being withheld pending family notification. The case was still under investigation by Norwalk Police late Tuesday afternoon.
