Original Story:

Police were searching  for a black SUV-type vehicle driven by a white male who on Monday morning offered a 13-year-old Westport girl a ride to school, police said.

The incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. in the area of Apple Tree Trail, where the student was waiting for her school bus, police said. A parent who was sitting in a car with her children waiting for the same school bus witnessed the event, police said.

Both the student and the parent described the vehicle as a black, older model SUV-type vehicle with a gold-colored emblem on the rear tailgate, police said. Neither the student or the parent obtained the vehicle’s license plate number, police said.

The driver of the vehicle was described by the student as a white male in his mid- to late 50s with gray, “bushy” hair covering his ears, police said. The man identified himself to the student as someone “living around here,” police said.

Patrol officers in the area were unable to locate the suspicious vehicle or the driver, police said. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or the man is asked to contact the Westport Police Department at 203-341-6000.
