Police received a tip in March 2016 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a residence in Westport had uploaded child pornography, according to police. An investigation led to the home of 52-year-old Daniel Krulewitch, police said. A search warrant was executed at his home in April 2016 by the Westport Police Department Detective Bureau and the regional Technical Investigations Unit.

Police said that searches of his electronic devices turned up more than 50 images of child pornography. They also found an instant messenger app that contained conversations with underage persons, and attachments of images and selfies of nuder underage persons in sexually explicit positions, police said. Archived screen shots of chat conversations between Krulewitch and the underage persons were also located, according to police.

Krulewitch turned himself in on an active warrant on Friday. He was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography, enticing a minor and risk of injury. He was released after posting a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 25.
