Violin, Tools Stolen From Truck At Norwalk Home Depot

NORWALK, Conn. – A violin worth about $400 and hand and power tools valued at $500 were reported stolen Wednesday from a pickup truck parked at Home Depot on Connecticut Avenue, police said.

The items, which included a Milwaukee cordless drill and Malta power saw, were in the back of the cab, police said. The owner of the truck, 32-year-old Norwalk resident Junior Zelaya, had been shopping in Home Depot Wednesday afternoon and returned to the truck to find the rear passenger door ajar and the items gone. The violin was his daughter’s, police said, and there were no signs of forced entry.

Police said the incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m., according to Zelaya, who reported the incident at police headquarters later in the evening.

Adding to Zelaya’s difficulties, when an officer asked for his driver’s license for his report, Zelaya produced a passport but no license. Realizing Zelaya had driven to the station, the officer issued him a summons for operating without a license.
