Update 6 p.m. DARIEN, Conn. -- An armed man robbed the People United Bank in the Goodwives Shopping Center in Darien on Wednesday, police said.

The man entered the bank at about 2 p.m. and jumped the teller counter, police said. He then displayed a weapon and demanded money from two tellers, police said.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken, and nobody was injured in the robbery, according to police.

Surveillance footage shows the man entering the bank wearing a mask and a blue hooded sweatshirt and using an umbrella, police said. It is not known how the suspect arrived at or fled the shopping center area, according to police.

Darien police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the suspect to contact the Detective Bureau at 203-662-5330.

Original story: DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien police are investigating a bank robbery at the Goodwives Shopping Center on Wednesday afternoon.

The robbery at the People's United Bank was reported shortly after 2 p.m., police said. Employees told police that the bank was robbed by a man who displayed a gun. Police are still investigating the incident.

The Goodwives Shopping Center is on North Kings Highway North, between Route 1 and Interstate 95 near downtown Darien. 

It was the second bank robbery in two days in lower Fairfield County. The First County Bank on High Ridge Road in Stamford was robbed Tuesday morning, police said. (Read about that robbery here at the Daily Voice.)
