The fire was reported at about 3:27 p.m. Saturday at 44 Fox Run Road, said Deputy Fire Chief Edward Prescott.

The barn, which was 50 feet by 80 feet, included a workshop and a storage area as well as two jeeps and various tools, Prescott said in a press release.

The boats, stored for the winter, and the vehicles near the barn "sustained varying amounts of damage from the intense radiant heat," Prescott said.

A total of 30 Norwalk firefighters responded to the scene as Westport, New Canaan and Rowayton engines covered the vacant Norwalk fire houses.

The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes, and crews worked for over an hour to fully extinguish hot spots, Prescott said.

Norwalk police blocked Fox Run Road between Ponus Avenue and Devonshire Road for a couple hours as fire crews worked.

Fire inspector Kirk McDonald from the fire marshal’s office was investigating the cause of the blaze.
