Two Sent To Hospital After Fire At Stamford Landscaping Business

STAMFORD, Conn. — Two employees were injured in a smoky fire at a South End landscaping business in Stamford on Friday afternoon, firefighters said.

The call for the fire came in at 2:32 p.m., with the caller reporting heavy black smoke coming from the garage at 95 Elmcroft Road, the Stamford Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

The caller had also reported that the building had been evacuated. 

Upon arrival, firefighters stretched a hoseline into the building and quickly extinguished the fire in the tool room. 

The building was cleared of smoke, and the fire damage was limited to the tool room itself. 

Two employees suffered fire-related injuries and were treated by Stamford EMS paramedics and then transported to Stamford Hospital for further care. 

The cause of the fire was under investigation by the city fire marshal's office. 

Stamford Police were also on scene and assisted with traffic control. 

A total of four engines, one truck, the heavy rescue, and deputy fire chief responded with a total of 29 fire service personnel. 

The final company cleared the scene at 4:23 p.m. Friday.
