Two Families Displaced By Bayview Avenue House Fire In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. -- Two families were displaced after a blaze raced through their multifamily dwelling at 16 Bayview Ave. late Wednesday afternoon, Norwalk fire officials said.

The fire was reported at 5:33 p.m., Deputy Fire Chief Gino Gatto said, and three engines, two ladder trucks, one rescue truck and a command car responded.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke coming from the rear second floor of a three-story multifamily dwelling, Gatto said.

The fire was located in the kitchen of the second floor apartment, he said, with the stove, hood, cabinets and walls in flames.

The blaze was quickly extinguished, Gatto said.

All the home's occupants were safely outside when firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported.

The second and third floors of the home sustained smoke damage.

The fire is under investigation by Deputy Fire Marshal Broderick Sawyer.

Both families were relocated due to the fire. One family is staying with friends, and one is receiving help from the American Red Cross.
