Anthony Shipman, 31, of Hartford and Jason Vaughn, 30, of Bridgeport were each charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. Vaughn was also charged with criminal possession of a firearm. Each was held on $150,000 bond and appeared in court Monday.

The Sunoco Gas Station on Connecticut Avenue was robbed at gunpoint at 3:21 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, police said.

Shipman and Vaughn entered the gas station wearing dark clothing with their faces covered and robbed two employees before fleeing on foot, according to police reports.

Vaughn was carrying a dark-colored revolver during the robbery, according to police. No shots were fired, and nobody was injured during the robbery.

The case was investigated by Detective Courtney Downer of the Norwalk Police Department.

Shipman and Vaughn were arrested in December by East Hartford police in connection with the robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank there. While being interviewed, they admitted to committing other crimes, including the armed robbery of the Norwalk gas station. They are also suspects in a number of similar robbery cases throughout the state.

A warrant was applied for their arrest, and they were picked up in East Hartford and arraigned in Norwalk on Monday.
