Truck Accident Shuts Off Power To South Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. -- A truck hit a utility pole on Quintard Avenue early Tuesday morning, knocking out power and shutting the road down for most of the day, police said.

The accident occurred shortly after midnight at the intersection of Quintard and Burritt avenues. Police said a large pickup truck hit the utility pole, snapping it and knocking it into the street, shutting off power to the area.

Police and workers from South Norwalk Electric and Water responded to the scene.

Traffic and school buses had to be diverted around the street while work was completed to restore power. Power was returned to the homes in the area and the street was reopened around 3 p.m.
