Suspect Sought In Norwalk Arrested After Crash Of Stolen Car In Fairfield

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport officers apprehended three suspects in a stolen car after a chase of that vehicle ended with a crash into a telephone pole in Fairfield early Thursday, according to police.

Westport K-9 Officer James Loomer was patrolling residential neighborhoods in the northwest part of town when he saw a black BMW that matched the description of a vehicle stolen the night before, police said. He attempted to stop the vehicle, but the BMW fled the area at a high speed, police said. 

The same vehicle was later spotted by Officer David Perez on Post Road West near Lincoln Street, but the suspects fled to Interstate 95 with officers in pursuit, police said. The stolen vehicle exited I-95 at Exit 21 in Fairfield but crashed into a telephone pole at the bottom of the ramp, police said. 

With the help of Police K-9 Koda, officers apprehended three suspects after the crash who were attempting to flee on foot, police said. 

A fourth suspect, who was driving, fled and was still being sought, police said.

Officers arrested Tyler Carey, 18, of Bridgeport; Denise Marquez, 19, also of Bridgeport; and an unidentified juvenile. Two of the arrested people were treated for minor injuries at Norwalk Hospital, police said.

All three were charged with first-degree larceny first- degree conspiracy to commit Larceny and interfering with a police officer. 

Carey was also charged with criminal impersonation after attempting to use a false identity at the time of his arrest, police said. He will be transferred to the Wilton Police Department on a warrant for first-degree larceny, police said. 

Marquez and Carey were both held on $25,000 bond, police said. 

The juvenile was released on a juvenile summons and transferred to Norwalk Police, who held an order to detain on previous juvenile charges, police said.
