Suspect Extradited To Norwalk On Charges In 2005 Sex Assault Of Child

NORWALK, Conn. – A Colombian man was charged Tuesday after eight years of evading police on sexual assault charges in Norwalk, according to police reports.

Fabian Mesa, 31, a Colombian national with a last known address of Altamonte Springs, Fla., was identified as a suspect in a Norwalk investigation from 2005, police said.

Since summer 2008, a warrant has been out for Mesa’s arrest relating to the sexual assault of a young girl, according to police reports. The specific details of the case have not been released.

Mesa was arrested by Orlando Police in August after local police discovered his warrant, according to Orlando Police reports. He was extradited to Norwalk on Tuesday.

Mesa was charged with two counts each of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He was held on $500,000 bond, and is expected to appear in court for arraignment Wednesday.
