Norwalk Hospital staff contacted police after a patient was admitted with non-life-threatening stab wounds at about 9:30 p.m. Monday. The victim, a 41-year-old man, had wounds to his torso and right arm, police said. He was still in the hospital receiving treatment as of Tuesday morning but is expected to survive, police said.

Norwalk Police investigators located a blood trail on Monroe Street, near the South Norwalk train station and the Townhouse Gardens housing complex. Investigators identified Mustafa Muhammad, 43, of Monroe Street as one of the suspects involved, Lt. Thomas Mattera said Tuesday.

Police declined to discuss the investigation further, as they believe more suspects are involved.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we expect further arrests,” Mattera said.

Muhammad was arrested early Tuesday and charged with first-degree assault. He was held on $20,000 bond. He appeared in Norwalk Superior Court Tuesday.
