Connecticut State Police at Troop G in Bridgeport responded Jan. 29 to the Dunkin' Donuts in the I-95 northbound service area in Fairfield.
An employee told troopers that a male customer had paid with a suspected counterfeit $20 bill, according to state police.
About 10 minutes later, a second man also attempted to pass a counterfeit $20 bill to a different employee but was unsuccessful, state police said.
When troopers arrived, they immediately determined that the first bill was counterfeit, according to state police.
The first suspect was described as a black male in his early 20s, weighing 130 pounds, with dark skin, and a tattoo over his right eye downward on his face, State Police said. He was wearing a burgundy jogging suit with “Rhode Island College” printed on the hooded sweatshirt and a gold-colored winter hat, according to police.
The second suspect was described as a black male in his early 20s, of stockier build, about 5-foot-6, and wearing black pants and a black short-sleeve shirt, police said.
Anyone with information to help identify these two suspects is asked to call Trooper Lund at Troop G at 203-696-2500.
All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
