STAMFORD, Conn. — The Stamford man found shot to death outside Norwalk Hospital just after midnight Wednesday may have been looking to retaliate for a shooting that took place Sunday in Stamford, Capt. Richard Conklin said.
“There is a good chance of that,” Conklin said, adding it has not been confirmed.
The victim, Wyclif Bel-Jean, 21, of Custer Street, was friends with Darious Jones, also 21, of Custer Street, and may have been with him at a party the night Jones was killed, Conklin said previously.
A reported shooting on Spruce Street just after midnight Wednesday could have been where Bel-Jean was shot and that his body was later dumped in Norwalk, Conklin also said. Conklin is waiting for results of forensic tests being done on casings found as well as on the gun and other items found near Bel-Jean’s body in Norwalk.
Information from sources was consistent with the victim being shot on Spruce Street, he added.
Investigators were unsure whether the shootings were drug- or gang-related, Conklin said.
