Stamford Man Charged With Biting Norwalk Police Officer

NORWALK, Conn. — A Stamford man who was acting violently bit a Norwalk police officer as police tried to bring him control early Wednesday at a local home, according to The Hour.

Daniel Velme, 20, was arrested and charged with assaulting public safety, medical, or public transit personnel.

Multiple officers were called to a home on New Canaan Avenue on a report of a man with “altered mental status” who appeared to be on drugs, police told The Hour.

They tried to restrain Velme, who was screaming and acting violently and then bit one of the officers, The Hour said.

The officer and Velme were both taken to Norwalk Hospital, the Hour said.

Velme was held $50,000 bond for a Jan. 3 court date.
