Anthony Domond, 33, was arrested at 7 a.m. Tuesday by members of the Norwalk Police Department with assistance from the Stamford Police and the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force, said Norwalk police Lt. Terrence Blake.
Domond was wanted in connection with the double fatal crash that occurred on Connecticut Avenue on Jan. 8, Blake said.
When the crash occurred, Domond was driving a vehicle westbound on Connecticut Avenue near Richards Avenue when he entered the eastbound lane of Connecticut Avenue and struck a vehicle that was traveling eastbound.
Frank Peterson III, 50 and Anthony Johnson, 40, both of Stamford, were killed.
According to Johnson's father, who said the men were best friends, Peterson had picked up Johnson at Bertucci’s Italian Restaurant on Connecticut Avenue, where Johnson had a job washing dishes in the kitchen.
The father, John Johnson, said the two then headed up Connecticut Avenue to grab a hamburger, possibly at nearby McDonald’s. They were killed after picking up the food.
Norwalk Police Crash Investigator Officer Chris Wasilewski investigated the incident. As a result of his lengthy investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Domond.
Domond was charged with two counts of manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and reckless driving, Blake said.
He is being held on $200,00 court set bond.
