When approaching the car, the officer reported smelling alcohol and asked the driver to step out of the car, police said.

The driver, 47-year-old Andrew Vossler, had trouble walking from his car to the side of the road to perform the standard field sobriety tests, police said. He then told the officer that he could not perform them and was taken into custody, police said.

Vossler was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right and operating an unregistered vehicle. He was released on $100 cash bond and given a court date of Aug. 5.
