Six Displaced By Attic Fire On Lawrence Street In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – No injuries were reported, but six occupants of a two-family house at 19 Lawrence St. in Norwalk were displaced by an attic fire, the second blaze Norwalk firefighters responded to Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters cut a hole in the roof of the house to allow heat and smoke to escape, and the 2 p.m. blaze was under control in less than 15 minutes, according to Deputy Fire Chief Chris King.

Most of the damage was contained in the attic and second floor, but the first floor sustained some water damage.

The six occupants of the house will be temporarily relocated by the American Red Cross, in part because gas and electrical service has been shut off.

Earlier in the afternoon Tuesday, Norwalk firefighters extinguished a condominium fire at 100 San Vincenzo Place.
