NORWALK, Conn. -- Five women and a man were arrested on prostitution charges Thursday night in a sting conducted by Norwalk police.
Dorian Perry, 21, of Middletown; Tessa Rivas, 21, of Middletown; Nataliya Gissa, 41, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Juanita Mead, 31, of Waterbury; Layia Rice, 25, and Carrie Figueira, 30, of Waterbury, were all charged with prostitution.
Figueira was also charged with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. All were released on promises to appear in court April 6.
The operation, conducted by the Norwalk police Special Services Division, targeted people who advertise prostitution services online through sites such as Craigslist and Backpage. Police contacted a number of people who advertised on these sites, and arranged to meet at a local motel.
An undercover officer met with the prostitutes at the hotel and recorded them as they agreed to exchange sexual services for money, according to police.
They were all arrested without incident, police said.
Figueira had some crack and a pipe on her when she was taken into custody, according to police.
