NORWALK, Conn. – Three members of a Bridgeport family were sent to Norwalk Hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a head-on collision Friday morning. The accident was caused by wet road conditions, Norwalk Police say.

A Honda Civic carrying a Bridgeport woman, her baby and her 8-year-old daughter skidded on Wilson Avenue in heavy rain and collided with a GMC Sierra pickup truck, police say. The children were taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons, a police officer said. The woman told police she was hurt, but he didn't say how.

Police closed Wilson Avenue near Highland Street as they investigated, and the Rowayton Hose Company worked to clean up the scene.

A Rallye Tire Company employee assisted the landscapers who had been in the truck, trying to pry the pickup's front bumper out from under the body of the truck as the woman's car was being towed.
